Standard Practice: Use The Shit Out Of Your New Toy

12:12 am Gaming, Nintendo DS, Polls

That’s right, I’ve got a polling toy that takes user votes. As a result, I’m going to set up a new poll. What classic game do you most strongly want to see ported to the DS?

[?php jal_democracy(4); ?]

Please feel free to add games to the vote list, if they’re not retarded. However, only one game per option please, and you only get to pick one. Think it over; the system doesn’t allow you to change votes.

Update: some people need to read my blog more often.

FF3 is already being ported to DS, lemme see if I can’t find me some screenies

  3. mic Says:

Came to think of some more: Fiendish Freddy’s big top of fun, GODS, Rampart

  4. Chris Says:

I would also love to play Death Rally. I think that game would work well on the DS and I miss it’s fun times.

Final Fantasy 3 running on DS (not the rock and the two chest, oh fuck, I’ve seen those before somewhere)

I’m surprised nobody’s said Mario Paint yet.

id like river city ransom with wifi. co-op and battle :)

anyways yea FF3(NES) is being ported to DS by square themselves… fully 3D conversion from the old NES title. its really sexy.

anyways a port of Mario Kart SNES with wifi would be great. and forget lemmings… worms all the way!

They’re all good games, but for the one I’d most like to see ported to the DS, I had to choose Lemmings. Those little bastards are too addictive NOT to be on the DS. Someone needs to port it before I do it myself! :-D

  9. Jared Says:

So yeah, I think the DS would be a great platform for a possibly tiled port of Angband or it’s many variants. The touch screen and dual nature of the platform make for a unique way to present the game, I can leave that to your imagination.

  10. Robert Mayott Says:

    Starcraft. ;)

  11. Stephen Says:

I vote lemmings, it’s just a classic – failing that, the incredible machine would be an excellent candidate, as well as the mouse-centric RTS/Sim games.

  12. MachinShin Says:

well.. i’d starcontrol 2 (mainly the super melee mode) + wifi, but it’d obviously have to be modified to be multiplayer,ie not just 2-player. but N-player, (N up to say..8 :P ) (radar on the 2nd screen, and wtf would you do w/ the touch-part of the 2nd screen?)

  13. joat Says:

I voted Gauntlet, with the condition that it be 2D or at least top down, and WFC capable.

4 player online classic Gauntlet for the win :)

If those conditions can’t be met, I’d probably go for LBA 2 or lemmings (tho that’s the sort of game that needs no votes, it’ll get remade either officially or unofficially for sure)

P.S. Very few of the games listed can really be called classic, perhaps they’ll become classics, but the oldest game on the list is 1989, although I’m too lazy to see how old MULE is. Angband might be older too; at least you can consider it’s lineage classic, rogue is ancient and created the genre :)

P.P.S. just saw Mic’s comment, and I’d second TIM without reservations, that game rocked.

  14. LunarCrisis Says:

Was going to vote for StarCraft, but decided to go for C&C just because its controls lend themselves more directly to what the DS has on offer.

I agree with Chris though, Death Rally would be The Ultimate Choice. =)

  15. David R Says:

I’m going to agree with the gauntlet, same conditions: 2d or 3d but top-down (anything else wouldn’t really be gauntlet, would it?). Wifi (that is, over the internet online) should be seriously considered for every game. For some games, like lemmings, maybe no multiplayer part, but then perhaps allow you to download new content for the games (levels, etc)

  16. ejr Says:

Civilization, is a game that should be made for NDS and IMO Nds is a great console for such games as civ.
